THE REASONS ATHLETES CHOOSE US!
1) We know knees
Did you know that most physios would see less than 5 ACL injuries per year? And then they only see them every few weeks or months in the clinic!
We have been rehabbing knees for years. We have returned over 300 athletes to sport following ACL and knee injuries.
2) No more surprises with a fixed fee
Need your program updated? Knee is a little sore, and not sure what to do? Feeling tight and need some treatment? Need to complete some testing to gauge your progress?
It’s all included in a price that makes it affordable for almost everyone. No more surprises!
3) A Fully Integrated System
How do you know when to progress your rehab? Are you ready to run? Start agility training, team training or return to sport?
That’s why we developed the 7-step Sports Knee Rehab System. Take the guesswork out of your recovery and follow the system from injury to your first steps on the field!
4) A Program Tailored to You
Get the feeling that you are just another patient? Your physio doesn’t understand your goals, strengths, and weaknesses?
We develop a rehab plan for you. We update your program weekly to ensure it is perfect for you and provides your constant progress through rehab.
5) We Don’t Neglect The Field Of Play
Is going to the gym and getting strong enough? Absolutely not. You didn’t get injured in the gym, so that’s not what will get you back on the field or court.
Running and agility retraining is the most overlooked component of rehab. It is also impossible to do it correctly yourself. You need field sessions with expert coaches to refine your technique and prepare for the field of play.
6) Full Access To Our Coaching Timetable
Walk into the gym and can’t really remember what you were supposed to do? Trying to remember what the physio told you as you went through your exercises in 10 minutes?
Get the support of expert coaches with a keen eye for technique so you never have to feel you are doing it all wrong.
7) You'll Receive Direct Access To Us
Have a question about your rehab? Knee is feeling a little funny, and not sure what to do?
Don’t wait for your next session or available appointment. Get in touch with us anytime to get your questions answered and concerns addressed.
8) Don’t Go It Alone
Injury is isolating. You can’t train with your team. Your primary social, mental, and physical outlet is GONE in a split second.
Be part of a team again. Experience the ups and downs with others just like you in a fun, challenging and rewarding environment… just like sport.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
OUR SPORTS KNEE PROGRAM
ALL ABOUT ACL INJURIES
The traditional approach for ACL rehab revolves around session-to-session care; where you pay for a single consult, get advice, and return at agreed-upon intervals with your practitioner. Typically, the sessional approach does not support you with training and advice outside the consult, meaning you spend more time by yourself. Our approach turns that idea on its head — rather than paying each time you see us, you pay one fixed weekly cost, and you can see us as often as you’d like (some athletes see us for 5 hours a week rather than a standard 30min appointment!). This approach means that you get all the support you need, whenever you need it. This results in great ACL rehab outcomes for our athletes and better support along the way.
After an initial assessment we will recommend a rehabilitation term based on your injury, goals and physical testing. Rest assured, we’ll support you for the length of your rehab and even past your return to sport date if you want us too!
Our Sports Knee Program includes everything you need to return to sport with confidence following ACL injury:
- Individualised treatment plan
- Unlimited semi-private supervised sessions (field and gym)
- Unlimited in-clinic physiotherapy sessions for treatment, program revision, testing and instruction
- Unlimited support from our physiotherapists
- Individualised rehabilitation program (delivered on our training app)
- Unlimited use of our recovery technology (compression boots)
- Return to sport testing
- 24/7 support from the physiotherapy team
In some cases, we do look after athletes remotely. If you live interstate or can’t make it to the facility, please reach out to us and we’ll assess if we can help. Most of the time, we’ll refer you to a coach we recommend in your city, because nothing beats coaching and accountability in the flesh. However, if you really want to work with us, we can explore that option with you, utilising telehealth, video coaching, and other remote technologies.
While ACL injuries are the most common sports knee injury, we have many athletes following other knee injuries. These include meniscus, PCL, MCL, patella dislocations and patellofemoral pain to name a few.
We do, however, only treat knee injuries. So rest assured the program is specifically designed for sports knee injuries.
Returning to high-risk sport following ACL injury, especially without completing a dynamic and comprehensive return to performance program, puts the athlete at a risk of re-injury up to 40x greater than athletes who have never suffered an ACL rupture. Evidence suggests that without the best ACL rehab and continued training following your return to sport, re-injury rates can be as high as 20% within the first few years back to sport.
Social participation in sport across Australia is growing rapidly; especially amongst the new and emerging Women’s competitions. This has a trickle down effect at a grass-roots level, with social participation in women’s AFL alone increasing by 140% in just two seasons. Poor formal training, preparation and injury resilience is resulting in many more athletes suffering ACL injuries than what existed prior to women’s sports participation exploding.
There is clear evidence that a structured, progressive and outcome-driven ACL rehab plan improves athlete outcomes during recovery. While there is no such thing as a ‘perfect’ rehab, the components of a great rehab include: regular and consistent touch points with your allied health support team (physiotherapists, psychologists, orthopaedic surgeons etc), regular, guided and progressive strength training, return-to-running frameworks that build you up to exceeding game demands and effective and accurate exit-testing to ensure your physiological and psychological markers have returned to pre-injury levels.
There are three primary options for an athlete to consider following an ACL rupture. The first is to approach ACL rehab non-operatively, where the athlete attempts to return to pre-injury levels of strength and stability. This is also called the ‘conservative’ approach. The second option is surgery, where a graft is taken from your hamstring, patella, quad (or donor), and your ACL is reattached. The third option is the most novel, known as the Cross Bracing protocol. For some athletes, the rupture occurs in such a way where bracing the knee at specific angles may result in the natural re-attachment of the ACL fibres. It’s important to consult your managing physiotherapist and physician to discuss what options suit your situation the best.
In the event of a minor ACL strain (what we call a partial rupture), there is a chance your injury may heal with ACL rehab and without surgery. In the event of a full rupture, it is unlikely that your ACL will naturally heal without intervention, such as a bracing protocol. For athletes who want to return to high-contact or high-pivot sports, options for surgery and rehab should be considered alongside your physiotherapist and surgeon.
If you experience any of the below, we would always recommend a review by a qualified health professional (like a physiotherapist), for review:
A loud popping sound during running, change of direction, or a contact episode
Pain that prevents you from continuing normal activity
Swelling around the knee joint
Loss of range of motion
A feeling of instability around the knee joint.
If any of these symptoms are present, we’d always recommend getting it reviewed by a professional so you can start your ACL rehab right away. Rather be safe, than sorry.
While everyone’s timelines will be different following ACL injury and surgery, the typical timeline recommends 9-12 months to return to sport, although this can be shorter or longer — it depends on individual circumstances and dedication to a proper ACL rehab program.
